VikServin Ltd. consists of two people: Vik Servin & Michelle Westholm.
Vik Servin was born in Mexico City and educated in furniture design at BoxHill Institute in Melbourne, Australia. Upon returning to Mexico in 2003, he worked as a graphic and 3-D designer for several Mexican agencies.
In 2007 he decided to return to his first love, furniture design, and launch his own company, VikServin Ltd. This allowed him to pursue his interest in craft and modern design of functional objects.
Today he works in conjunction with his partner, photographer/designer Michelle Westholm.
Michelle Westholm was born in Des Moines, Iowa. The eldest daughter of a traveling preacher, she grew up in numerous towns and cities of the American Midwest.
Michelle earned degrees from the University of Northern Iowa, Vanderbilt and Harvard before moving to Mexico in 2003.
She currently lives and works in Mexico City, where she spends her time between photography, teaching, and designing. She often works in conjunction with her partner, furniture designer/woodworker Vik Servin.
Today, VikServin Ltd. is headquarted in the central Mexico City neighborhood of Doctores, where Vik and Michelle approach contemporary design through their own unique lense. They design and make each piece themselves, often incorporating unique and beautiful found objects from the past.
The philosophy of VikServin Ltd. is to promote good design and beautiful objects, but to do so in a way that is responsible and avoids materialistic excess.
